The ATEC Graduation and Awards Night, held on Friday, 28 March at the Adelaide Convention Centre, was a spectacular celebration of the hard work, skill, and dedication of South Australia’s top apprentices.

SYC was proud to attend as the Major Sponsor of this annual event, which recognises emerging talent across various trades, including carpentry, mechanical, fabrication, and electrical apprenticeships. The evening showcased the passion and drive of South Australia’s future industry leaders, celebrating their achievements both on the job and in special recognition categories. The event also honoured the businesses and mentors who support apprentices for long-term success.

Throughout the night, we heard inspiring stories from apprentices who have overcome challenges, host employers committed to providing opportunities, and Group Training Organisations like ATEC, who are dedicated to delivering high-quality training pathways. Each story reinforced the vital role vocational education plays in empowering individuals and ensuring everyone has access to the opportunities and support needed to build meaningful careers.

One of the evening’s most memorable moments was the presentation of the Pat O'Reilly Memorial Apprentice of the Year Award. Named in honour of ATEC’s first CEO, the late Pat O'Reilly, who served from 1991 until 2012, this award recognises an apprentice who has demonstrated exceptional skill, commitment, and determination in their training. SYC’s Chief Operating Officer of Employment and Education, Stacey Dutschke, had the privilege of co-presenting the award alongside Pat’s son, a heartfelt tribute to Pat’s legacy in the vocational training sector. This year, we are thrilled to congratulate Mack Fielke and Bradley Duggin, the well-deserving recipients of this significant award.

At SYC, we have been empowering individuals to succeed for over 65 years. As an Apprentice Connect Australia Provider, we understand the value of apprenticeships in providing pathways to meaningful careers. We are proud to play a role in supporting apprentices and employers with tailored support throughout the apprenticeship journey.

The evening reinforced the importance of vocational training and our ongoing commitment to supporting a skilled, diverse workforce. It was a privilege to be part of an event that recognises the hard work and celebrates the achievements of Australia’s future tradespeople.

Congratulations to all nominees and winners, we look forward to seeing what’s next for you!
