Work Experience Placement

Overview

The Australian Government's Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program offers free foundation skills training to eligible participants seeking to improve their language, literacy, numeracy, digital literacy (LLND) skills and employability skills, empowering individuals to actively engage in the economy and society.

The SEE Program aims to enrich students' understanding of the work environment, support career development, and provide opportunities to practice the skills and knowledge they’ve gained

What is work experience?

Work experience involves a student participating in a short-term industry placement. This helps them gain a better understanding of the work environment and supports their career development.

Work experience can include:

  • Work shadowing and observation
  • Assisting staff with appropriate tasks
  • Providing opportunities for students to develop employability skills
  • Developing essential workplace skills, understandings and industry-related competencies

How can businesses and employers benefit?

Hosting work experience placements for local students assists in the development of our local workforce and who better than local employers that are passionate about developing local people.

  • Access to a potential future workforce, trialling students to determine their suitability for employment, potentially reducing recruitment costs.
  • Enhanced employer branding.
  • Opportunity to develop leadership and mentoring skills within their team.
  • Nurturing skilled people who can transition from learner to employee.

Duration

  • 4 days - 2 days a week, 5 hours per day for 2 weeks (20 hours in total)
  • 8 days - 2 days a week, 5 hours per day for 4 weeks (40 hours in total)
