SYC has commenced construction on a new group of townhouses in Adelaide’s inner north-east, marking a significant step forward in our organisation’s contribution to housing in South Australia.
Located in Ridgehaven, the Carter Street development will include six architecturally designed homes that will be retained and managed by SYC. It represents SYC’s most significant housing investment since the expansion of our HYPA Housing initiative in 2011 and reflects our continued commitment to increasing access to safe, stable and affordable housing in the community.
This development transforms a single household block into six well-designed, modern homes, significantly increasing housing supply and making better use of the land. It’s a practical example of how SYC is investing in long-term, community-focused solutions that respond to growing demand.
“This project is a strong example of how we reinvest back into the community to create lasting, meaningful impact,” said SYC CEO Mark Hoffman-Davis.
“We know that safe and secure housing is vital in helping people build sustainable independence and wellbeing. Carter Street reflects our commitment to growing the housing options available, in a way that is scalable, considered, and aligned with our purpose.”
The Carter Street project supports SYC’s strategic priorities and our long-standing belief that access to secure housing is critical to building independence and wellbeing. By increasing our housing stock, we’re creating more pathways for people to access appropriate, stable homes.
The development is expected to be completed in 2026, and we look forward to sharing progress updates as the build continues.
