At SYC, we love seeing young people discover career paths that excite them and we’re proud to help them take those first steps. As an Apprentice Connect Australia provider, we support apprentices through every stage of their journey, offering guidance, mentorship and practical support to set them up for success.
Our Apprenticeships team works closely with apprentices, schools, employers, and training providers to make sure each apprentice feels supported from day one. We’re proud to support young people who are taking charge of their futures, and we’re excited to introduce three students who have recently started their school-based apprenticeships.
Eliza from Grant High School in Mount Gambier is about to begin her Certificate III in Agriculture with Thomas Foods International. Eliza’s journey began with her own initiative, she reached out to SYC and Thomas Foods directly to explore opportunities in the agriculture industry. With the support of her mum, her school, and SYC Apprenticeship Field Officer Tina, Eliza completed all the pre-employment requirements and is now ready to get started. SYC will continue to provide tailored support throughout her apprenticeship as she balances school and work while building skills in a field she’s passionate about.
Hudson, a student at Cardijn College – Marcellin Campus, is starting a Certificate III in Electrotechnology with Green Connect. Having already completed a Certificate II in the same field, he’s excited to take the next step in his career. Our Apprenticeship Field Officer, Bethany, worked closely with Hudson, his school, and his new employer to ensure a smooth transition. With support from TAFE, SYC and Green Connect’s experienced team, Hudson is set up to build a successful career in the electrical industry.
Also from Cardijn College – Marcellin Campus, Riley is beginning his Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication, with Cross Country 4x4. After completing his Certificate II, he was ready for the next challenge. SYC Apprenticeship Field Officer Bernie, supported Riley through the sign-up process, working with his school and employer to make sure he had everything he needed. Riley is now gaining hands-on experience while continuing his education, with SYC providing ongoing support throughout his apprenticeship journey.
At SYC, we’re committed to ensuring the success of every apprentice. Through regular check-ins, one on one mentoring, and personalised support, we help students build the confidence, skills, and knowledge they need to thrive in the workplace. School-based apprenticeships offer a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience while still in school, and we’re proud to play a part in helping students unlock their potential and create lasting career opportunities.
We can’t wait to see where Eliza, Hudson, and Riley go from here. Whether through school-based programs or full-time apprenticeships, we’re here to help people build careers they’re excited about.
