Meet Scott, National Partnerships Manager

Last year, Scott celebrated 25 years with SYC, marking a long-standing commitment and impact across the organisation.

Scott started at SYC in 2000 as a Recruitment Consultant and has since built a diverse career across the organisation. Today, he is SYC’s National Partnerships Manager – Workforce Australia Services.

Over the years, he’s been part of major recruitment projects, supported hundreds of people into work, and contributed to initiatives that create real impact across communities.

For Scott, the purpose behind the work is what matters most.

“We’re here for others, not for ourselves. I don’t always see the outcomes firsthand, but I hear the stories and know the work SYC does across all our programs is making a real difference.”

Over his time at SYC, there have been many standout moments. From leading large-scale recruitment projects like entire supermarket teams at Mount Barker and Henley Square, to supporting hundreds of placements with OTR. He has supported more than 500 workers through redundancy and has been involved in initiatives like SYC’s Reconciliation Action Working Group. More recently, he has been part of the work with Woolworths on their new Customer Fulfilment Centre in Adelaide, supporting recruitment.

But beyond the projects, it’s the people that stand out most.

“Seeing staff grow and develop, both professionally and personally, is something I’m proud of. I’ve also been lucky to learn from some great leaders over the years. It’s helped shape how I lead today, not always perfect but always improving.”

No two days look the same, and that’s exactly what keeps it interesting.

“I get to meet a wide range of people and work through employment and training challenges with both individuals and businesses. There’s always something new to learn.”

After 25 years at SYC, one thing remains constant, the people.

“There are so many fantastic staff at SYC and I’ve made lifelong friends along the way and in the industry.”
