This week, we’re thrilled to join in the celebration of National Skills Week, a time dedicated to promoting and recognising the value of apprenticeships and Vocational Education and Training (VET). This week shines a spotlight on the importance of practical, hands-on skills and encourages exploring career paths that involve meaningful, hands-on work.
We’re proud to highlight the achievements of our talented students during this special week. Meet Tyson, from our Certificate II in Construction Pathways Program. Tyson’s journey through our Building Links Program is a testament to the impact of vocational training.
Tyson participated in a full house renovation for SAHA (South Australian Housing Trust), gaining invaluable skills in kitchen and tiling installation, bathroom renovations, and second-fix carpentry. His growth from a quiet student to a confident apprentice has been inspiring.
Chris, our Construction Trainer and Assessor, shared, “Watching Tyson grow not only in construction skills but also in essential life skills like communication, resilience, and punctuality has been incredibly rewarding. His progress was clear, and I had no hesitation recommending him for an apprenticeship.”
Now working as an Apprentice Carpenter with All Carpentry Solutions, Tyson reflects, "The Building Links Program really impacted my decision to pursue carpentry. It gave me practical skills and real-world experience that I wouldn't have gained otherwise. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to start a career in construction.”
Our Building Links program, tailored for VET in Schools, provides hands-on experience renovating and remodelling homes in partnership with the South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA). It equips students like Tyson with an accredited qualification and essential employability skills.
