“We’ve built this program around the idea of strength, culture, and community,” shares Chris Matheson, SYC Start Your Deadly Career Program Coordinator.
SYC's Start Your Deadly Career Program has just wrapped up in Healesville, marking a powerful milestone in our commitment to supporting First Nations job seekers. In partnership with Mob Jobs, this three-week initiative blends cultural connection with career development, equipping participants with the skills and confidence to take their next steps into study or employment.
Ready Set, a not-for-profit organisation that helps job seekers by providing professional clothing and coaching, joined us during the program and generously donated 50 items of work-appropriate clothing to the participants. Their support ensured participants felt job-ready, with many sharing how much more confident they felt in their new gear. We also extend our gratitude to Local Jobs North Eastern Melbourne Employment Region for their continued support in making this program a reality.
Meanwhile, the Start Your Deadly Career Program is off to a strong start in Melton, where we are proud to bring this initiative to the local community. The program kicked off with a meaningful Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, hosted by Alex Kerr.
We are grateful to Workforce Australia Western Melbourne Local Jobs for their ongoing support and the entire Mob Jobs team for their dedication to delivering this impactful program. By weaving cultural connection into job readiness, the Start Your Deadly Career program empowers participants with pride, resilience, and the tools to create lasting change. We look forward to supporting them on their journey toward employment and education.
