When DJ first connected with SYC Employment Services, he was uncertain about his career direction. Having recently relocated, he found himself navigating a new state with limited support, unsure of where to start. DJ knew he didn’t want to remain in a role that lacked growth opportunities. He wanted to pursue a career that would allow him to make a positive impact on others.

Through SYC’s Workforce Australia program, DJ received the guidance he needed to get on track. As a provider of Workforce Australia Services, SYC offers tailored support to help individuals secure and maintain meaningful employment.

DJ worked closely with Thalia, his Aboriginal Employment Mentor, who supported him every step of the way. Together, they explored career options that aligned with DJ’s skills and aspirations, helping him build the confidence to pursue his goals. This support led him to the Aboriginal Security Pathway Program in collaboration with Wilson Security at Tauondi College, a pivotal moment that sparked his interest in the security industry.

“It’s great to see participants find their passions with the right support and guidance,” shares Thalia. “Through our mentoring, we were able to help DJ see his strengths. When the Local Jobs Aboriginal Security Pathway Program came up, we knew it would be a perfect fit.”

Following the program, DJ secured a position with Wilson Security. Since then, his dedication and growth have impressed his employers, leading to a permanent position, an important milestone in his career.
