We are excited to announce Julie N, Manager of Tenancy Services, as a recipient of the Lifetime Supporter Award! This award recognises individuals who have made a lasting contribution to SYC’s vision of wellbeing, independence, and opportunity for all. In addition, Julie was honoured with a Service Award this year, celebrating her remarkable 20-year journey with SYC.

Julie’s journey with SYC began in the employment services portfolio as a Recruitment Consultant/Intensive Support Case Manager. From the very beginning, Julie’s passion for supporting others and making a difference was clear. Over the years, her dedication and drive helped her grow into her current role as the Manager of Tenancy Services, where she now leads RentRight SA, a program dedicated to improving the lives of South Australian tenants.

Throughout her career, Julie has remained committed to collaboration, fostering a belief in people’s potential and continuously driving improvements. For Julie, the most rewarding aspect of her work is connecting with individuals and responding to their unique needs.

“I absolutely love being present in front of a client, whether it’s a young person in crisis, a tenant needing support, or someone just looking for information and responding to their need no matter how big or small.”

Julie’s leadership has been instrumental in driving change, particularly in the areas of rental reforms and the Tenant Advice and Advocacy Service contract. Over the years, she has been a tireless advocate for changes to the Residential Tenancies Act, working to improve the experience for renters in South Australia. Looking back, Julie is proud to have played a key role in bringing about these changes, despite the many challenges along the way.

“For a time, I honestly thought the legislation changes would never happen,” she says. “Now, SYC’s RentRight SA is at the forefront of those changes, and we have the privilege of working closely with the government to improve the renters’ experience.”

Julie’s impact goes beyond just the programs she leads. She is also deeply committed to supporting her colleagues, regularly going above and beyond by serving as a mentor, clinical supervisor, and trainer.

“What I really love most of all is watching my team shine,” Julie says. "They all strive so hard to make a difference in the lives of every client and tenant they interact with, and that makes my heart swell with pride.”

Julie’s dedication to creating a positive and supportive work culture has not only empowered her team but also ensured that both staff and clients are given the tools and encouragement they need to thrive. Her passion for her work continues to fuel her leadership, as she remains as dedicated as ever to empowering her team and supporting the tenants of South Australia. Julie shares,

“A manager is only as good as the team they manage. I have such an amazing team, and I absolutely love supporting them as they grow and make a difference in the lives of our clients.

Julie’s impact at SYC is a reflection of her dedication to supporting others and driving meaningful change. From shaping key programs like RentRight SA to mentoring colleagues, her work has made a lasting difference in both the lives of clients and the culture of the organisation. We thank Julie for her unwavering commitment and outstanding work.
