Hon Amanda Rishworth MP Visits SYC Christies Beach to Discuss Employment Services Reform

Last week, we were proud to welcome the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP to SYC’s Christies Beach site to discuss the Australian Government's Employment Services Reform and what it means for job seekers and employers.

The visit brought together staff, participants and employer partners to share their experiences, discuss current challenges and opportunities, and explore how future reforms can better support people into meaningful and sustainable employment.

SYC delivers a range of employment services across South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales, including the Australian Government's Workforce Australia program. Supporting thousands of participants each year, our employment services focus on helping people build skills, gain confidence and secure long-term employment.

During the visit, staff, participants and employers had the opportunity to contribute to important conversations about what is working well, where improvements can be made, and how employment services can continue to deliver positive outcomes for both job seekers and businesses.

SYC CEO, Jenny Hall, said the reform process presents an important opportunity to strengthen employment pathways and create a more responsive system for those seeking work.

"Employment changes lives, and it is essential that employment services continue to evolve and meet the needs of today's workforce and employers. These reforms present an opportunity to shape a system that is more flexible, person-centred and focused on achieving sustainable employment outcomes."

Jenny also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, service providers and employers in shaping the future employment services system.

"Strong partnerships are at the heart of successful employment outcomes. Bringing together government, employers, participants and frontline staff ensures that diverse perspectives are heard and helps shape a system that better supports individuals on their employment journey."
