Work for the Dole participants help Puddle Jumpers take a leap with refurbished office

After years of hard work by the community, including Work for the Dole participants from Job Prospects, South Australian not-for-profit Puddle Jumpers opened their newly refurbished head office at a special VIP night hosted by Andrew Costello from ‘South Aussie with Cosi’.
Puddle Jumpers provides camps, day activities and mentoring for disadvantaged children as well as holding free food nights at their head office which are attended by over 100 people weekly. The newly renovated space will now allow the organisation to expand its services to provide more support to those who need it.
James, a young person who participated in the first Work for the Dole activity that Job Prospects and Puddle Jumpers engaged in, attended the VIP night along with Taysharna Berger, Job Prospects Work for the Dole South Consultant.
According to Taysharna, Puddle Jumpers were very grateful for the help provided by the Work for the Dole participants.
“Thanks to the Work for the Dole program the Puddle Jumpers volunteers are now able to increase the amount of important work they do and help more people,” she said.
The project not only provided a great outcome for Puddle Jumpers, but James was also able to secure a part-time job with the organisation supervising the volunteers and Work for the Dole participants. He has held the position for the past 9 months after finding it very difficult to get a job in his field of study.
“I’ve studied a Bachelor of Behavioural Sciences, completing a second major in Philosophy, I’m interested in finding further work in the area of my study,” he said.
We hope this position with Puddle Jumpers is just the first step for James on his new career path.
