SYC is excited to welcome our newest board member Lisa George, Global Head of Macquarie Group Foundation. A long-time supporter of SYC, Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge of the not-for-profit sector.

Lisa’s broad experience includes her current role as Chairperson of the Harvard Club of Australia’s Non-profit Fellowship Program, Council member of NSW’s Premier’s Council for Homelessness and she’s held previous roles in advisory and executive board positions.

Lisa said she was attracted to join the SYC board because of the innovative practices of the organisation and the strong focus it has on supporting people on their journey to independence.

“I have known and worked with the leadership of SYC for several years and I think the focus on innovation and continuing to evolve its practise is a real differentiator in the sector,” she said.

“I love the strengths-based approach, focusing on finding and harnessing young people’s talent for a positive future.  It’s very inspiring and I’ve seen the positive outcomes first-hand.

“Going forward, I’m most excited about the opportunity technology presents for SYC’s work.  It has the potential to transform our services, make us more effective and more importantly, help more people,” Lisa said.

Chairman of the SYC Board, David Hallett, is thrilled to welcome Lisa, he said she will add another dimension of knowledge and expertise to the board.

“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Lisa George to the SYC Board.

“Through our partnership with Macquarie Group Foundation we’ve had extensive dealings with Lisa and we are impressed with her strong business acumen, sector knowledge and her expertise in corporate philanthropy.

“The board is looking forward to the insight and experience she brings to the role that will help shape and support SYC as we evolve into the future,” he said.
