We’re excited to announce our new partnership with the Suncorp Group, through their Brighter Futures program. Over the next 12 months, our homelessness services will benefit greatly from the support of their South Australian employees.

The partnership was launched recently with some fun events for staff at their Adelaide CBD offices. Our Director for Young People and Practice, Liz O’Connell introduced staff to SYC and our transitional housing program, HYPA Housing.

“Suncorp has committed to raise enough to cover the cost of operating two HYPA Housing apartments for the year. This makes a huge difference to the individual young people and the families of those supported by the program. They experience increased security, independence, wellbeing, education and earning potential. They also avoid a number of risks associated with homelessness, such as injury, illness, involvement with the criminal justice system and relationship breakdown,” Liz said.

“Above and beyond the individual benefits, the fact that we can sustainably exit young people from the homelessness system delivers significant savings to the community in reduced health, justice and welfare costs.

“We look forward to working with Suncorp employees and helping more young people stand on their own #TwoFeet.”

Suncorp employees have committed to supporting us throughout the year with their payroll giving, hosting office fundraising events, corporate volunteering days and more. We gave the employees a pair of HYPA #TwoFeet socks as a thank you and to mark the beginning of our relationship.

Last year, Suncorp surveyed their employees and found that they were most interested in supporting local charities with a focus on young people and mental health. We were chosen out of a pool of charities who applied to the Brighter Futures program for South Australia.
