SYC is providing Solid Foundations for young Australians
01 Mar 2019
SYC recently launched the Solid Foundations Fund, to provide safe and stable housing opportunities to the increasing number of young people experiencing unstable housing in our community.
The first major fundraising goal is to raise $750,000 by June 2020, and we are already well on our way to achieving this, thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
The 2018 #TwoFeet Christmas Appeal raised an impressive $26,000 through cash and in-kind donations, part of which supported the Solid Foundations Fund.
The next fundraising opportunity is National Youth Week (10-18 April) when we are asking organisations, community groups and individuals to host fundraising events to support the Solid Foundations Fund, which is already generating a lot of interest.
SYC’s CEO, Paul Edginton, believes community fundraising events are not only an opportunity to raise money for unfunded initiatives, but an important way to engage with the community to educate and raise awareness about issues facing young Australians.
“SYC has proven housing models that are changing the trajectory of the lives of young Australians,” said Mr Edginton.
“The Solid Foundations Fund will enable us to expand our service delivery in our housing programs, and raise awareness in the community about the need for safe and stable housing for all young Australians.
“Further to this, we will work with young people to support their life skills, mental health, education and employment opportunities to prepare them for a prosperous and independent future. I am certain the Solid Foundations Fund will be an influencing factor in changing the lives of many young Australians for the better,” he said.
