Patrick Delivers the Goods – HYPA Transition to Work
16 Oct 2018
Finding work can be one of the most daunting challenges faced by young people across Australia. In regional towns like Mount Gambier, it can be particularly overwhelming with fewer opportunities on offer than in bigger cities.
Fortunately, 20-year-old Patrick has secured solid work at Exchange Printers as a General Hand thanks to the HYPA Transition to Work (TtW) program. Lincoln, from our Mount Gambier team, was Patrick’s Youth Employment Consultant and helped him through the process. They worked on writing his first resume and training him for his first interview ever with employer Nick.
“Patrick had the right attitude and was prepared to put himself out there. It is essential if you want to make the grade and win the job. Nick has been great and the outcome has been a big win for everyone. That’s why I love this work,” Lincoln said.
After 3 months, Patrick is now working a solid 25 hours per week and has become an integral part of the business. Patrick said he loves his new position and thanks Lincoln for preparing him for employment.
“I’m a lot happier now and I’m actually thinking about the next level of where my life can go. Lincoln was great and got everything sorted for me. It gave me a lot of confidence to know he was working so hard for me,” Patrick said.
Exchange Printers Manager, Nick, has been very impressed with Patrick and looks forward to developing his skills and knowledge further.
“Patrick has been with Exchange Printers for 10 weeks and has fitted into our team environment perfectly. He is always eager to help out with different jobs around the place and is currently learning different aspects of the business as well as his day to day duties.
“Lincoln has been in constant contact with us to make sure things are running smoothly,” Nick said.
