Our Service Response – COVID19
26 Mar 2020
A lot has changed lately. We understand that the services we deliver to support our community may be more important now than any other time in our 61-year history. We're committed to ensuring as much continuity as possible for Australians in need during this time.
All SYC, Job Prospects and HYPA sites are still operating, we have made some adjustments to how we provide some of our services and will continue to monitor and implement advice from health authorities.
Our resilient workforce has responded quickly and efficiently to make sure we can continue the important work we do.
Some of the measures we have currently implemented include:
- Carrying out appointments and meetings via phone or email wherever possible.
- Contacting people to make sure they are well and not in a risk category before meeting with them.
- Adhering to social distancing measures, outlined by the government.
- Increasing the frequency and coverage of our cleaning practices.
- Where possible, our employees are working from home.
Our Youth Homelessness services are all operating and will continue to operate and support young people via outreach appointments, phone and online support.
Our Trace-A-Place Shopfront is still open 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday and we are providing safe spaces for young people to access shower, toilet, hygiene products, sanitary items and food.
If you or someone you know needs assistance, please call us on freecall 1800 807 364.
For support outside of business hours, or for people over the age of 25 years, please call the Homelessness Gateway Service on freecall 1800 003 308.
Get-A-Place continues to operate. You can contact us by phone 08 8405 8580 and email firstname.lastname@example.org

Health and Disability
Our Health and Disability teams are continuing to provide individualised support to our clients. We have ramped up our availability of support workers to ensure we can grow our NDIS services, and we are finding creative ways to continue to support people to engage and participate in their community.
Our School Leavers Employment Supports (SLES) program is moving online – and we are working hard to create a virtual learning environment for the young people we are supporting to prepare for work.
Our youth and adult justice teams are continuing to support people to transition back to their community from custodial centers, and assisting with access to housing, food, health and personal support services.
SYC Head Office
Our support services staff are available as usual. Check with us before your meeting about whether it will take place in person, via phone or online.
