Introducing our Chief Operating Officer of Community Support Services and Chief Risk and Information Officer
02 Jun 2021
Recruitment has now been finalised across the SYC Executive team. This year we have expanded from a small-but-powerful group of four, to seven clearly defined strategic roles.
This month we welcome Joe Aylward to SYC as our Chief Operating Officer for our Community Support Services. This role oversees our Homelessness, Housing, Justice and NDIS programs.
Joe was born in Liverpool, UK and emigrated to Adelaide in 1986. He holds a B.A Honours in Political Science (Adelaide University), Bachelor of Social Work (Flinders University) and a Masters of Social Work (LaTrobe University).
Joe’s extensive working experience includes roles in social work, youth work, residential care and youth justice.
Joe devised and coordinated employment and training programs for the South Australian State Government for a range of cohorts including young people and refugees. Joe then lived and worked in the APY community for sustained periods during his role as Section Manager for the APY Lands Regional Office for the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Joe comes to SYC from his most recent position as an Assistant Director and Acting Director for the Department of Education Skills and Employment. There he undertook the role as an Account Manager for a range of activity including ParentsNext, Entrepreneurship Facilitators and the Local Jobs Program.
Joe has served on a number of boards including as President of the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, and Clubs and Societies at the University of Adelaide.
Outside of work Joe plays the piano, has a strong interest in current affairs and is a fanatical Port Adelaide, Adelaide United and Everton supporter.
We are also very pleased to announce the promotion of Daniel Culleton, who has been SYC’s Head of Technology since 2015, into the role of Chief Risk and Information Officer.
As we continue to enhance our focus on information security, quality and compliance under Dan’s leadership, he also will have oversight of our Risk Management Framework and Integrated Management System.
This role is crucial now and into the future as we see the intersection of our core face-to-face service delivery with complimentary online platforms and tools continue to accelerate.
Dan is a strategic thinker, experienced leader and efficient project manager. He has led SYC’s extensive digital transformation agenda, cyber security reforms and our organisational wide technology response to the impacts of COVID-19.
Prior to SYC, Dan has held positions including Service Delivery Manager, Delivery Lead and Service Desk Manager. He holds an Advanced Diploma in Information Technology, is ITIL Foundations Certified and is a Microsoft Certified Desktop Technician.
Dan is truly passionate about technology in all its forms, is a motoring enthusiast and enjoys playing guitar.
SYC CEO, Mark Hoffman-Davis, was excited to have the executive leadership team appointments complete. “Both Dan and Joe are excellent additions to our team and will add great value as new members our executive. We have a bold agenda for 2021 and beyond and I’m exceptionally proud to have such a talented team, right across SYC, that will help lead us in delivering our strategy.”
