HYPA SCS Corporate Golf Day a Hole in One
14 Jul 2016
A great day was had by all participants in the HYPA SCS Corporate Golf Day, presented by Specialised Career Solutions and Titanium Security, held on July 1 at the Glenelg Golf Club.
16 teams of 4 took part in the Ambrose competition, all completing the 18 hole course and participating in activities along the way. This included attempts to win the SV6 Black Edition Commodore, generously provided by Peter Kittle Holden Port Adelaide, by hitting a hole in one at Hole 3. Unfortunately no one managed that feat, but the car was then offered as a live auction item, for the winning bidder to enjoy it for a weekend, thanks again to Peter Kittle Holden Port Adelaide.
Players also got to test their accuracy skills out to win a bottle of d’Arenberg wine, which proved to be an immensely popular activity, unsurprisingly.
In order to ensure players didn’t get too thirsty throughout the morning we paid for four young people to undertake their RSA so that they could volunteer to serve beer, which was kindly donated by Asahi, to players on course. This RSA will also benefit these young volunteers’ employment prospects within the food and hospitality industry.
MC Troy Gray did a wonderful job of keeping guests on game throughout the lunch that followed, providing high entertainment along with masterful crowd management skills! Fundraising activities during lunch included the well supported raffle, with first prize kindly being donated by Bunnings Mile End, plus some great items auctioned off by auctioneer Lindsay Warner, who did a great job also.
Proud winners of the competition were the SHAPE Australia team, followed in second and third place by the LG and William Buck teams respectively, so congratulations to them and to everyone who had a go.
All in all, just over $16,000 was raised for our HYPA #TwoFeet campaign, which ultimately was the purpose of the day, a terrific result, which is all due to the generosity of players and attendees at lunch. A huge thank you goes to everyone who contributed to that figure. 100 per cent of the $16,000 raised will be put towards our transitional housing program, HYPA Housing. HYPA Housing provides stable, secure and safe accommodation to young people who are experiencing homelessness, a necessity if a young person is to get their life back on track and stand on their own #TwoFeet.
Our thanks also go to our sponsors and supporters, without whom the event would not have been possible. That includes Presenting Partners Specialised Career Solutions Training Institute (SCS) and Titanium Security; Sponsors Peter Kittle Holden and Macquarie; Green Sponsors Glenelg Golf Club, Stramech Engineering and Reality Commercial Projects, and Supporters Asahi Premium Beverages, Apollo Picture Frames, d’Arenberg Wines, Harcourts Brock Williams, Lush Pastures, Enhanced Training Services and Pro Paint ‘n Panel. We are very grateful for your support, thank you.
Finally thank you to the four young people who volunteered their time, along with SYC employee volunteers, you helped make sure the day ran smoothly and was a great success.
