Our School Leavers Employment Supports (SLES) provides year 12 school leavers with up to 24 months of support to build skills for employment.
We offer practical skill building in groups and one-to-one support with a dedicated coach. Together these supports grow your skills and confidence.
Your coach will work with you to identify your strengths and interests, and build your skills to achieve your employment goals. Together you will create a tailored plan to achieve your employment goals and develop skills for independence, such as budgeting or using public transport. Coaches support you to gain experience through work placements, employer presentations, work site visits and volunteering opportunities.
Coaching can be provided at one of our many locations or on-site at schools. As well as working one-to-one with your coach your personal plan could include group sessions and training.
Group sessions give you the opportunity to learn and share ideas with other young people who are also preparing to get employment. Topics are tailored to the needs of the group and include:
- Positive thinking and confidence building
- Goal setting
- Budgeting and handling money
- Workplace communication
- Understanding what employers want
- Job search skills
- Interview skills
- Working in a team
Your coach will support you to complete specific training towards your chosen job. Training may be provided one to one, online or in a group.
