Former Governor of South Australia, Rear Admiral the Honourable Kevin Scarce AC CSC RANR (Rtd), has decided to rekindle his involvement with SA charity, SYC Limited, by agreeing to become Patron of the organisation a second time.

Mr Scarce served as the 34th Governor of South Australia for seven years, from 2007 to 2014, and during that time was also Patron for SYC, a role that ended when his tenure as Governor completed.   A retired Royal Australian Navy officer, Mr Scarce was recently appointed to the role of Royal Commissioner for the SA Government’s Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission.

As an ex Elizabeth Primary and High School student, Mr Scarce holds Adelaide’s northern suburbs close to his heart and has invested a lot of time over the years in his old stomping ground.  He is delighted to be able to support a South Australian charity that does so much excellent work in the South Australian community, including a strong presence in Northern Adelaide.

“As Governor I was Patron for SYC for the seven years and it was both an honour and a privilege to be so.  I am delighted to be back there, supporting SYC and all the good work it does” said Mr Scarce.

“With the assistance of SYC, more Australians are on a pathway to independence and prosperity in their lives and the lives of their families.”

“This work is commendable and a credit to all who work at SYC to deliver its services” Mr Scarce concluded.

SYC CEO Paul Edginton, said he was both grateful and very pleased to have Mr Scarce back as Patron.

“Kevin Scarce is an incredibly impressive man who has served his country and this State admirably.  Despite his illustrious career, he remains a man of great humility and compassion and we know he is very supportive of the work we do in helping people in need” Mr Edginton said.

“We are thrilled that he has decided to re-join SYC as Patron.”

Mr Scarce begins his new role on 1 November 2015.  For more information about SYC and the help it provides people in need, please visit
