TtW clients learn the basics about money management
Some of our Transition to Work (TtW) clients in Nothern Adelaide were lucky enough to participate in a finance workshop presented by BankSA Elizabeth on the basics of managing money.
The workshop covered valuable information and handy tips on a variety of topics including opening an account, using ATMs, building savings, budgeting and even superannuation.
Matt Pill, TtW Work Coach for HYPA, said the team is placing a real focus on encouraging clients to connect with people in the community to help create employment opportunities and increase confidence.
“It was great to see the young people showing their initiative and asking questions during the presentation and even sharing their own experiences.
“Some participants took up the opportunity to speak one on one with Sue and SJ to get further advice about money and banking in general, which demonstrated how useful the session was,” he said.
One of the workshop participants, Jayden, said the workshop was really helpful for him and he learnt lots of new things that will help him in the future.
“The information was clearly explained and the presenters involved the audience well.
“I was really interested to learn the information about superannuation, as I didn’t know much about this before,” he said.
This is the second time Bank SA has been kind enough to support TtW after last year being involved in our inaugural Amazing Race event at HYPA North.
It was clear that the group were completely engaged and interested in the subject matter and it will no doubt benefit them once they gain employment and a steady income – hopefully during their time on the TtW program.
