Get-A-Place (GAP) |

Get-A-Place (GAP) provides information, advice and practical support to young people seeking independent accommodation.
GAP services include:
¨ Tenancy Advice and Information Service ¨ Rent Club workshops ¨ ‘The Rental Kit’ publication ¨ Share Accommodation and Matching Service (SAMS).
Tenancy Advice and Information Service provides young people with:
¨ Information and advice about public and private housing, including bond assistance, direct lease housing and private rental. ¨ Advocacy for young people on housing issues. ¨ Information about the rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords. ¨ Referral to appropriate housing services.
The Rent Club is a one day workshop that provides young people with information and advice about accessing and maintaining independent accommodation.
‘The Rental Kit’ is an SYC publication which provides advice on private rental and share accommodation.
Share Accommodation Matching Service (SAMS) is a web-based service that assists young people to link with a potential housemate. The GAP project officer contacts young people with suitable matches including some basic information such as first name, contact phone number, cost and suburb. Referrals never contain identifying information to protect those that register for share accommodation. Young people 17-25 who are seeking share accommodation or offering accommodation can register on www.sams.syc.net.au
