Trace-A-Place (TAP)
Young people 12-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness can contact SYC’s Trace-A-Place (TAP) service. TAP is the central assessment and referral agency for youth emergency and supported accommodation in Adelaide. TAP can help young people access accommodation and other necessary support services.
Get-A-Place (GAP)
Get-A-Place advises young people in South Australia about their independent housing options including share accommodation, community housing, Housing SA and private rental.
Cooperative Foundation Court (CFC)
SYC manages a community of seven inner city flats for young people seeking independent accommodation.
Job Placement, Employment and Training (JPET)
SYC’s, Job Placement, Employment and Training (JPET) is an Australian Government Service which assists young people between 15 and 21 who are experiencing significant personal and social barriers. JPET assists and prepares young people to participate in education, employment, vocational training and community activities.
Juvenile Justice Job Placement, Employment and Training (Triple JPET)
Triple JPET is a specialised service for young people aged 15-21 who are eligible for JPET and have a significant history of offending. SYC, in partnership with the Youth Education Centre, is the only provider in Australia of a specialist JPET service that focuses on the particular needs of young offenders. Triple JPET provides intensive support to participants in secure care as well as in the community. Participants are assisted to overcome the barriers they are facing; and are supported to continue their education, find work, become job ready or commence study. SYC provides support to young people attending court and assists or arranges Legal Aid or other legal assistance.
Bronzed Up©
Bronzed Up© is a programme for young people aged 15-19, particularly those who have been in contact with the juvenile justice system. Over a 10 week period participants train to become Surf Life Savers and gain their bronze medallion. Bronzed Up© gives participants a real opportunity to be actively and positively involved in their community.
Get Rec©
Get Rec© is an SYC initiative supported by the Office of Recreation and Sport. Get Rec© provides young people with the opportunity to engage with their community through sport and recreation. Sports workshops are provided in partnership with community sporting organisations and schools.
Flexible Learning Options (FLO)
Flexible Learning Options (FLO) is an Innovative Community Action Network (ICAN) pilot project that provides an alternative enrolment option for students at risk of disengaging from school. Students are referred by their school of enrolment to receive the assistance they need to return to school or engage in other suitable education or training options.
Personal Support Programme (PSP)
SYC’s Personal Support Programme (PSP) is an initiative of the Australian Government that provides support to people of all ages. PSP assists people to address their personal barriers to achieving their personal, academic and employment goals.
Youth Pathways
Youth Pathways in an Australian Government Programme that assists young people aged 13-19 who are at risk of not completing Year 12 (or equivalent). Youth Pathways seeks to reduce the number of young people who leave school early and don't go on to further education, training or employment.
